Estella
As I am reading on, I begin to meet more and more characters, each one more exciting than the previous. One of the most exciting ones is Estella. She is a young woman, who Pip was introduced to while going to visit Miss Havisham's (another lady) house. Estella is described as very pretty, but very arrogant. She flirts with Pip, but at the same time calls him a casual man (an insult for those days meaning not noble) and makes him feel really bad about himself. She also slaps him at one point, which makes him even more sad. In my opinion she is a really powerful character, usually rather cold, but strong and I can't wait to find out more about her.
Estella seems like quite an annoying character does her characteristics annoy you ?
ReplyDeleteSometimes yes, as she is extremely arrogant and always makes Pip feel really bad about himself and his household. However, I still think that this is the effect she wants to reach and that she is quite strong and powerful character.
DeleteHow does Pip feel about her? And have there been any other pretty girls in his life?
ReplyDeleteWell it isn't necessarily said with direct words that he is in love with her, but we can guess as he cares a lot about what she thinks of him and once she let him kiss her cheek and he became really happy, so I think that he loves her. About any other pretty girls in the novel, there is no others whose beauty is emphasized.
DeleteDo you believe that she will be a defining character in the story?
ReplyDeleteYes, DEFINITELY!

ReplyDeleteDo you think this character will change her personality at one point?
ReplyDelete~Peter
No, because I think that that is what the author wanted
DeleteEstella sounds intriguing... Do you think there is a more vulnerable side to her?
ReplyDeleteNot really, I mean maybe she has been hurt before and that's why she is so arrogant and rude now, but otherwise I think that that is the main part of her personality.
