I am currently reading a book called Flapper, by Joshua Zeitz. It take splice in the 1920s, so a bit after the first world war. It is about America's first sexual revolution and about how America came to be this party like country. All the girls wanted to be flappers, go to parties, get drunk and be intimate with a man. These were the times where the women were becoming more liberal and had less rules, the could now smoke in public, drink in public and more and all of them wanted to shorten their hemlines and they all wanted to be celebrities.
"Flapper is a dazzling look at the women who launched the first truly modern decade." - Joshua Zeitz
That's more like it. What do you think of the book? Are you enjoying it?
ReplyDeleteIs it based on one particular girl or the time period itself?
